Opening a bank account 馃憠

In general, most bank accounts have some common requirements, which are:

  • Current official photo identification.
  • Proof of address.
  • A minimum deposit to open the account.
  • For foreign nationals, a valid passport and immigration form are required.If you have encountered the barrier of not having a valid passport to open an account, we recommend these two accounts from different banks that do not require a passport:Banorte Enlace Digital :Requirements:
    • To have an active CURP at RENAPO:
    • To have a smart phone, cell phone number and email.
    • No minimum opening amount.
    • Account opening from any device with internet.

    Banco Azteca Guardadito Level 4

    Requirements:

    • Minimum opening amount of $1 peso.
    • Be a national or foreign individual residing in Mexican territory.
    • Be over 18 years of age. Valid official identification: Foreigners may present an immigration document issued by the National Institute of Migration (INM), Accreditation Card issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SER).
    • Proof of address no more than 3 months old (water, electricity, gas or telephone).
    • Account opening at a branch.
    • We recommend you bring the downloadable brochure in case the bank executives are not familiar with the cards and the bank’s layout.
