CURP (Population Registration Code)

What is the CURP?

The Unique Population Registry Code or CURP is an individual registration instrument for all inhabitants of Mexico, without distinction between nationals and foreigners.

What to do if I am not registered?

  • If you do not have CURP, you must print a “No Existence” certificate and go to an official module with your birth certificate and an official identification. The procedure is fast and free of charge.

Necessary documents: Resident foreigners must submit any of the following valid documents (original and copy):

  • Migratory Document, issued by the National Institute of Migration (INM).

  • Diplomatic Visa D1.

  • Official Visas O1 and O4.

  • Service Visas S1 and S2.

 

RFC (Tax Registration Number)

What is the RFC?

The Tax Registration Number or RFC is the registration of individuals and corporations before the Mexican Tax Administration System, so it is necessary in case of formal hiring or to prove income through informal or self-employment.

NSS (Social Security Number)

What is the NSS?

The Social Security Number is unique, permanent, and non-transferable, and it is assigned to keep a record of workers and insured persons.
