Prepare my trip to Mexico

Self-management for migrants

National Red Cross and ICRC Societies in the region recommend self-care measures and stress the need to mitigate the humanitarian consequences suffered by migrants.

  • Find out. It is very important that you are familiar with the route you are going to follow on your trip, the climates you are going to face, the hostels and help services you can approach, as well as all the documents and essential necessities items you will need on your way.

  • Contact. Keep in regular contact with your family members. It is best that you memorize some important numbers in case you cannot use your mobile phone.

  • Take care of your health. Protect yourself from the rigors of weather, stings and bites of animals, do not travel in means of transportation where you could suffer an accident, rest and ventilate your feet, bring with you at least a change of clothes protected by a plastic bag, stay hydrated, eat well and something very important: monitor your health condition. If you feel physically or emotionally unwell, consult a doctor; you have the right to receive medical care free of charge throughout Mexico.
